Dioctyl sebacate (DOS) is one of the best plasticizers for PVC polymers. DOS is notable for its very low volatility compared to other industrial plasticizers such as DBS, DOP and DBP. This quality causes the least migration of the softener from the PVC polymer, the long-term stability of the properties of the polymer composition and its resistance to solvents. PVC compounds that contain dioctyl sebacate have much higher abrasion resistance than monomer-combined plasticizers. Also, this softener

About DIOCTYL SEBACATE (DOS)
Specifications
Plasticizers are substances that are injected into polymeric materials to provide or improve the elasticity or plasticity required for reprocessing or use. They facilitate free-flowing material dispersion. Some of them, namely dioctyl subcategory, also improve the properties of polymer materials against fire, light and heat.
All plasticizers must meet the following common conditions: thermodynamic compatibility with a given polymer material, low volatility, absence of odor, chemical resistance, resistance to fluid medium (such as oil), solvent extraction from the given polymer material. The effectiveness of the softener is determined by its structure and the molecular structure of the polymer material. As a rule, the plasticization process of flexible chain polymers follows the model of in-fusion plasticization, that is, the properties of the polymer change proportionally to the amount of plasticizer without additives.
When PVC compounds are combined with dicarboxylic acid esters, the effectiveness of the softener is directly dependent on the number of methylene groups in the ester composition and the amount of softener injected.
